We are
focussed on provision of flow measurement engineering and consultancy
service’s, with fiscal and allocation flow measurement in upstream oil
and gas production, and petrochemical, and power generation. Email and
Internet have extended our reach so we can provide services in any
part of the world. Recent projects have been in the Gulf of Mexico,
Algeria, Netherlands and Singapore.
Engineering services include; metering audits, design, investigations,
onshore and offshore support, allocation studies, and uncertainty
studies.
In
1997 Martin Basil, BSc, MInstPet, MIEE, CEng, Managing Director
of SOLV Limited, successfully pioneered the use of Monte Carlo
Simulation (MCS) methods to find uncertainty of oil and gas flow
measurement and allocation systems. These methods are used alongside
conventional quadrature and perturbation methods to find the
uncertainty of complex flow measurements including Multi-Phase Flow
Meters (MPFM), Wet Gas Meters (WGM) and fluid properties such as gas
compressibility and density uncertainty.
Our
experience stems from the North Sea oil and gas fiscal and allocation
flow measurement which is subject to stringent regulation by DTI (UK
Department of Trade and Industry) and the NPD (Norwegian Petroleum
Directorate). More recently we have provided uncertainty analysis for
deepwater developments in the Gulf of Mexico using MPFM’s for allocation to
satisfy the requirements of the MMS (US Dept. of Interior, Mineral
Management Service). These regulatory environments require accurate
traceable measurements complying with national and international
standards.
Software includes FLOWSOLV™, a flow sizing and validation product
providing a wide selection of traceable oil and gas calculations with
rigorous compliance to standards. We also supply a web-based
electronic logbook system, FLOWLOGBOOK™, for recording fiscal meter
station events that is accessible from any location on Internet or
Intranet. This provides a traceable record at any point in time and is
also suitable for logging or incident recording and reporting. We also
supply, FLOWDATA™; a system that validates daily fiscal data and,
ENVISAGE™; modelling software to find uncertainty and exposure of oil
and gas measurement and allocation systems.
Over
70 measurement and allocation uncertainty models have been supplied
utilising our ENVISAGE™ Monte Carlo Simulation (MCS) uncertainty
software tools. Uncertainty methods conform to ISO5168 and “The Guide
to the expression of in measurement”; the overarching ISO
(International Standards Organisation) uncertainty standard commonly
know as “The GUM”.
